You've decided to bring your family to the UAE for a visit — congratulations! But before your loved ones can confidently pass Philippine immigration, you may need to secure an Affidavit of Support and Guarantee (AOSG). The process is appointment-based, and preparing your documents properly is the difference between a smooth visit and a wasted day off.
Here is a practical, step-by-step guide for kabayans in Dubai, Sharjah, the Northern Emirates and Abu Dhabi.
Disclaimer: Requirements, fees and booking systems can change without notice. This guide reflects publicly available information as of October 2026. Always confirm the latest details on the official Philippine Consulate General in Dubai website (dubaipcg.dfa.gov.ph) or the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi before your appointment.
Dubai or Abu Dhabi: Where Should You Apply?
Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Dubai generally serves residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi generally serves residents of Abu Dhabi emirate (including Al Ain).
Check which post covers your area before booking, so you don't get turned away at the door.
Step 1: Check if Your Visitor Really Needs an AOSG
Not every visitor needs one. Based on the PCG Dubai's guidelines:
Seniors aged 60 and above are exempt
Minors aged 17 and below are exempt
The sponsor must be related within the 1st or 2nd degree (parents, children, spouse, grandparents, siblings, grandchildren, in-laws)
Not sure what an AOSG is? Read our explainer: AOSG Meaning.
Step 2: Confirm You Meet the Income Requirement
The PCG Dubai lists these minimum monthly incomes for sponsors:
Visitors you're sponsoring
Minimum monthly income
Single visitor
AED 10,000
Family of two
AED 14,000
Family of three
AED 16,000
Family of four
AED 18,000
The Consulate says these figures are based on UAE cost-of-living estimates and are reviewed periodically, so check the current numbers before applying.
Step 3: Prepare Your Documents
Use this checklist (based on the PCG Dubai's published list):
Proof of relationship
PSA-issued birth certificate of the visitor
PSA marriage contract, Report of Birth, or Report of Marriage, as applicable
Proof of income
Employment contract, verified by the Migrant Workers Office (MOHRE contract for private sector)
Payslips for the last 6 months
Updated salary certificate stamped by your company
Bank statements for the last 6 months, stamped by the bank, showing your salary
Proof of accommodation
Tenancy contract (Ejari/municipality-registered) in your name, or
A hotel booking stamped by the hotel or travel agency showing your visitor's stay and flight dates
Identity documents
Copy of your valid passport and UAE residence visa
Copy of your visitor's valid passport
Tip: Any Arabic document must be legally translated into English. Bring originals and photocopies.
Step 4: Book Online Through the Pre-Assessment System
AOSG applications at PCG Dubai are strictly by appointment. The Consulate's AOSG page links to its online pre-assessment system, where you submit details and get a schedule.
A few practical tips:
Book early. Slots can fill quickly, especially before Christmas, Holy Week and summer.
Use your exact passport name. Mismatched spelling is a common reason for re-filing.
Screenshot your confirmation. Keep it ready on your phone on the day.
Avoid "guaranteed slot" offers from unofficial pages. The Consulate warns against fixers.
Step 5: Attend Your Appointment in Person
The sponsor must personally sign the AOSG in front of a consular officer — no proxies. On the day:
Arrive early and bring your appointment confirmation
Bring all originals and photocopies, neatly arranged
Bring your Emirates ID and passport
Prepare to pay the notarial fee (check the current amount on the Consulate's website)
Step 6: Send the Original AOSG to Your Visitor
Your visitor will present the original AOSG to the BI officer at the airport, along with their PSA documents and return ticket. Send it by a reliable courier and keep a scanned copy.
Common Reasons Applications Get Delayed
Bank statements not stamped by the bank
Salary certificate not updated or not stamped
Visitor's travel dates on the hotel booking don't match the flight
Missing PSA documents proving the exact relationship
