"Magkano ba ang show money papuntang Dubai?" It's one of the most-asked questions in Filipino travel groups — and one of the most misunderstood. Some say PHP 50,000, others say PHP 100,000. The truth is a bit different, and knowing it can save you stress at the airport.

Is There an Official Show Money Amount?
No — there is no officially published fixed "show money" amount for Filipino tourists going to Dubai, either from the UAE side or the Philippine side.
What does exist:
Philippine immigration (BI) may ask self-funded tourists for proof of financial capacity or a source of income that matches the purpose and length of the trip.
UAE visa sponsors (such as relatives in the UAE) must meet their own income rules when applying for a family visit visa.
Airlines may check documents (visa, return ticket) but don't usually ask for show money.
So "show money" is really about credibility: does your budget make sense for your trip?
Who Is Most Likely to Be Asked for Proof of Funds?
Self-funded first-time travelers
If it's your first international trip and you're paying for it yourself, expect questions about your job and finances.
Travelers sponsored by relatives
If a relative in the UAE is paying, BI will focus on the sponsor's documents — PSA proof of relationship and, where required, an Affidavit of Support and Guarantee. Your own show money matters less.
Travelers with a strong travel history
Previous trips abroad, especially to countries with strict visa rules, often make interviews shorter.
How to Work Out a Sensible Budget
Instead of chasing a magic number, prepare a realistic budget for your actual stay. A simple way to estimate:
Accommodation: Total hotel cost (or note that you're staying with a relative — bring proof)
Daily expenses: Food, transport (Metro, bus, taxi), SIM card
Activities: Desert safari, Burj Khalifa, theme parks
Emergency buffer: Extra funds for delays or medical needs
Example: If you're staying 14 days and expect to spend around AED 150–250 a day on food and transport, plus hotel and activities, your bank documents should comfortably cover that total plus a buffer. The more your documents match your itinerary, the stronger your case.
What Counts as Proof of Funds?
Bring documents that are recent, consistent, and easy to read:
Bank certificate or recent bank statements in your name
Certificate of employment with salary, approved leave, and return-to-work date
Business permit/DTI registration and ITR if self-employed
Credit card (helpful as supporting proof, not a replacement)
Payslips for the last few months
What not to do
Don't borrow money and deposit it the day before your flight. Sudden large deposits raise questions.
Don't use fake bank certificates. This can lead to offloading and serious legal trouble.
Don't overprepare irrelevant papers. A thick folder of unrelated documents can confuse the interview.

Tips for a Smooth Immigration Interview
Answer honestly and simply
Know your itinerary: where you'll stay, how long, and why
Keep your return ticket, hotel booking, and visa printed
Dress neatly and stay calm — officers interview many travelers daily
There's no official figure, so no amount is "guaranteed" to be enough. What matters is whether your funds realistically cover your hotel, daily expenses and return trip for the number of days you'll stay. A short trip with a prepaid hotel needs less than a long trip where you'll pay for everything yourself.
Do I need show money if my relative in Dubai is sponsoring me?
Usually your sponsor's documents carry more weight than your own bank balance. Bring PSA proof of relationship, your sponsor's passport and visa copies, and an AOSG if it applies to you.
Can I show my parents' bank account?
Funds in someone else's name are harder to explain. If a family member is paying for your trip, it's better to document that as a sponsored trip, with proof of relationship, than to present their account as your own show money.
Will the UAE ask for my bank statement on arrival?
UAE immigration rarely asks tourists for bank statements at the airport, but carrying your return ticket and hotel details is always wise.
